I was out for my morning run, when I saw something strange in the distance. As I got closer, I realized that there was a figure in the water. I called out, but there was no response. I knew I had to act fast.
I called 911 and then jumped in the water. I was able to get to the figure and pull them to safety. It was then that I realized that it was Candice. She was unconscious and not breathing.
I started CPR and after a few minutes, she started to breathe again. The ambulance arrived soon after and took her to the hospital.
I later found out that Candice had been swimming out to the buoy and got caught in the current. She would have drowned if I hadn't been there.
I was just doing my usual morning run, but I ended up saving a life. It's a good reminder that we never know when we might be called on to do something heroic.
